🌿 The Art of Slowing Down

Wellness 🧘🏻‍♂️

Somewhere between the group chats, the traffic on the 10, and the seventeen things you said you’d do this week, you forgot to just be for a second.

Spring has a way of reminding us. The light changes, the jacarandas go full purple, and something in the body says: slow down, you’re missing it.

So here’s a love letter to doing less — but doing it intentionally. A curated guide to LA’s best wellness rituals to help you decompress, reset, and actually feel good this season.

🔔 Sound Baths: The Wellness Ritual LA Does Better Than Anywhere

If you’ve never been to a sound bath, I know what you’re imagining. You’re thinking something that requires more open-mindedness than you currently possess.

Then a friend drags you to one. You lie on a yoga mat. Someone starts playing singing bowls. And within ten minutes, your entire nervous system just… exhales.

One of the most talented practitioners in the city right now is my friend Barry Raccio, who leads immersive sound healing experiences through Century Wellness across Los Angeles and beyond. Barry’s work goes well beyond “relaxing music” — he integrates sound healing, breathwork, and subtle energy awareness to create what he calls a nervous system reset. In his words:

“Soundbaths are becoming the modern meditation for busy minds. Through soothing sounds and carefully tuned frequencies, they help people slow down, reset, and find calm — even if meditation feels impossible.”
— Barry Raccio, Century Wellness

And then there’s his latest offering, which is genuinely next level. 🛏️✨

Barry is now hosting Luxury Sound Baths at Hästens • WeHo — where guests don’t just lie on a yoga mat, but on ultra-premium Hästens beds, including the legendary Grand Vividus: one of the world’s most luxurious mattresses, valued at nearly $1,000,000. You are literally floating on a million-dollar bed while your nervous system gets reset by a master sound healer. I mean… only in LA.

🗓️ Upcoming dates: April 15 & May 20

And here’s an exclusive for my WRT insiders — Barry is offering a 20% discount with promo code:

He also does private sessions and corporate wellness programs — if you manage a team and want to do something actually useful for morale, this is it.

Also worth exploring:
The Den Meditation has evolved into a fully mobile, hotel-residency experience — no brick-and-mortar, which honestly makes it feel even more special. They’ve been known to host beautiful, candlelit sound bath events at venues like The London Hotel in West Hollywood. Keep an eye on their schedule for upcoming experiences. Artha, with locations in WeHo and Studio City, pairs sound baths with yoga and meditation in some genuinely stunning spaces.

🧊 Contrast Therapy: The Cold Plunge Trend That’s Actually Worth the Hype

Okay, I’ll be honest — I resisted the cold plunge thing for a long time. It seemed like the kind of wellness trend designed by people who already have a six-pack.

Then I tried it. And I got it.

The science is straightforward: alternating between heat (sauna) and cold (plunge) triggers a flood of norepinephrine, improves circulation, reduces inflammation, and creates a clarity that is — I don’t know any other way to say this — genuinely euphoric. It’s the reset button your nervous system didn’t know it had.

The best spot for this in LA right now? Teddy’s Hot House in Venice Beach. They’ve built the whole experience around contrast therapy — sauna, outdoor shower, cold plunge — in 90-minute sessions. It’s become a ritual for many people I know and respect.

Pure Recovery takes it even further with saunas, cold plunges, LED light therapy, and IV drips. Great for athletes or anyone recovering from something intense — physically or otherwise.

And if you want the full indoor-outdoor treatment, Den Mother in Venice is a beautiful spot that combines bodywork, sauna, and cold plunge in a setting that feels more like a sanctuary than a spa.

🧘 Float Tanks: The Loneliest You’ll Ever Feel (In the Best Way)

Total sensory deprivation. Zero gravity. Just you and your thoughts.

That sounds terrifying. It’s actually revelatory.

Float tanks — pods filled with warm, hyper-salinated water where you float effortlessly in complete darkness — have a way of forcing a kind of mental stillness that no amount of meditation apps can replicate. Most people come out after 60–90 minutes feeling like they’ve slept for eight hours.

Pause Studio has locations in Venice and West Hollywood and is consistently the most recommended spot in LA. The facilities are beautiful, the staff is warm, and first-timers are always well cared for.

🎨 Come Slow Down With Me: Spring Reset Vision Board Workshop

Speaking of intentional slowing down — I’m hosting an event, and I would love to see you there.

On Sunday, April 19th, from 4–6 pm, I’m presenting a client event that is exactly the kind of afternoon I’ve been craving: Spring Reset: Vision Board Workshop + Wine & Cheese, hosted at Plummer Park in West Hollywood with the incredible Success Coach Melanie Klein.

Here’s the picture: a Sunday afternoon, good vibes, wine in hand, surrounded by people who are curious and creative and ready to actually think about where they’re headed. Melanie Klein is a powerhouse — a success coach who knows how to help people cut through the noise and get honest about what they want. Together, we’ll make vision boards, share wine and cheese, and spend two hours doing the kind of reflective, joyful, surprisingly emotional creative work that most of us push aside because we’re “too busy.”

You are not too busy for this. That is the entire point.

📍 Plummer Park, Room 2 — 7377 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90046
🗓️ Sunday, April 19, 2026 | 4:00PM – 6:00PM
🚗 Free, easy parking
🥂 Wine. Cheese. Vision boards. Your best year yet.

⚠️ Space is very limited — this is an intimate gathering, not a crowded auditorium. If you want in, don’t sit on it.

RSVP by reaching out to me directly at jed@jedi.la. I’d genuinely love to spend a Sunday afternoon with you.

✨ The Bigger Picture

LA has a complicated relationship with wellness. On one hand, there’s the performative stuff — the juice cleanses, the Instagram-optimized retreats that exist mostly to look good in stories. On the other hand? This city has some of the most genuinely talented healers and practitioners, as well as some of the best spaces in the country.

The difference is in how you approach it. This spring, I’d encourage you to think of wellness not as an aesthetic or a lifestyle brand — but as a practice. Something you do consistently, a little at a time, because the world asks a lot of us and we’re allowed to replenish.

Whether it’s a sound bath with Barry, a plunge in Venice, or an April afternoon making a vision board with good people, find your thing. Then actually do it.

Spring is short. Take care of yourself while it’s here. 🌸
